I've been re-reading some Jane Austen books lately and watching some of the films. One of the other mom's from Ruby's Kindergarten class recommended this book.
It was an easy read and was amusing. The premise is that the main character is so obsessed with the idea of Colin Firth as Mr. D'Arcy that she can't have a successful relationship with a real man. Her great aunt bequeaths her a trip to an old English estate where everyone acts like people from Jane Austen's era. She takes the trip in the hope that it will be therapeutic and she can then move on with her life.
I thought the juxtaposition of modern life and sensibilities against Regency period ideals was fun and interesting. The whole book is kind of a tongue-in-cheek homage to all Jane Austen fans. I recommend it.
